Our Global Cultural Ambassador Scheme is targeted to incoming international individuals/ethnic minorities in HK who would like learn more about Hong Kong, do some volunteering work and meet some local and international friends.

Through volunteering with us, you will have the chance to visit schools and join programmes held in all parts of Hong Kong; from Sheung Shui to Tuen Mun to mountains in North Point or in outlying islands. Sharing personal stories and knowledge of your home culture will be most insightful to students.

What are the volunteering programmes like?
We organise events and workshops for different schools in Kowloon, New Territories or Hong Kong Island. Our customers range from local primary schools to corporate and NGOs. Topics can be vary depending on the audience. In the past, topics have included Stereotypes and Social labelling, Myths and Legends, Human Trafficking, and Ethics and Justice.
Roles as a Culture Sharer
The standard format for a session will be a cultural presentation followed by interactive activities. Culture Sharers are expected to do short presentations on the lesson’s topic, relating their presentation to their country of origin; and conduct casual conversations with lesson participants about their experiences. At certain events, cultural sharers are also expected to decorate booths to showcase their countries.
Am I qualified to share?
We welcome anyone passionate about sharing their culture to others. Sharers will first attend 2 workshops as trial to assess their suitability. A training session will be organised. Experienced sharers will be invited to organise their own workshop if they are interested.
Will I get paid as a ICEGCAS?
Culture sharers are not paid. However, a fixed subsidy to cover transportation (and sometimes food) will be provided for each attendance. It will be a good opportunity to enrich your CV profile. Outstanding Global Cultural Ambassador will be given priority to apply for a 3-month internship.
What is ICE Global Cultural Ambassador (ICEGCAS)?
ICEGCAS are people united by one passion: to share with others about their culture and promote global-mindedness. ICE invites our Cultural Ambassadors to engage in cultural sharing with others when there is a relevant ICE event. There will also be monthly casual get-together and events to connect ICEGCA with other internationals and locals.

Take part in fun cultural exchange and conversations with both international friends and local students, and engage in casual gatherings and activities every month, giving you a chance to make friends from all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to organise your own cultural events if you so wish.
What sort of casual events ICEGCAS can attend?
Past events include: Hiking at the peak, BBQ Party at Ma On Shan, watching the World Cup final together, party room gathering, Secret Santa – Christmas presents exchange, German Sauerkraut Cooking Workshop, Dialogue in the Dark Visit.

In today’s society where close-mindedness still pretty much prevails (even in an international city like Hong Kong), ICE has done an astounding job and their contribution will only get bigger.
